Former Meridian High Dandy Dozen basketball star Rodney Hood told Newscenter 11 Sports Saturday night that he plans on enrolling at Duke University next week and will play for the Blue Devils. He will have to sit out a year after transferring from Mississippi State.
Hood, an All-SEC freshman at MSU, says he chose Duke over Ohio State, Florida State and Memphis because he felt like it was quote, "a better fit for me."
Hood left Mississippi State in March after former coach Rick Stansbury retired and several members of the team either graduated, transferred or left early for the NBA draft. Hood, a two-time first-team All-State player at Meridian High, led the Wildcats to the Class 6A state championship his senior season.
