Local Softball Players Guide Mississippi Blast 98 to Championship


Two local soft-ball players helped propel a mississippi all-star team to national recognition over the weekend.

Newton county catcher cassidy blount and nanih waiya short-stop mackenzie johnson helped guide the mississippi blast 98 soft-ball team to a u-s-f-a... Class a.... 14-under world series in panama city beach, florida. The blast are based out of clinton, mississippi but are comprised of girls from all over the state. They defeated texas tanel 4-3 in a tie-breaker for the world series. Blount and johnson guided newton county and nanih waiya respectively to softball state championships in may.

Newton County catcher Cassidy Blount and Nanih Waiya shortstop Mackenzie Johnson helped guide the Mississippi Blast 98 softball team to a USFA Class A, 14-U world series in Panama City Beach, Florida.

The Blast are based out of Clinton, MS but are comprised of girls from all over the state. They defeated Tanel (TX) 4-3 in a tie-breaker for the world series.

Blount and Johnson guided Newton County and Nanih Waiya (respectively) to a softball state championship in May.
