The Meridian Community College golf team brought home it's first tournament championship of the spring season Monday afternoon. The Eagles captured the team and individual championship at the MACJC event #1 held at Great Southern Golf Course in Gulfport, MS.
The Eagles shot 294 for both rounds of the tournament to win by 7 shots over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and 22 over Co-Lin Community College.
Meridian native Nathan Kirkland won the individual title shooting one under for the tournament (70, 71). This was Nathan's first collegiate win for the Eagles. Two other Eagles placed on the all-tournament team. Ty Medling placed fourth by shooting a 3 over 145 (69, 76) and Connor Cavin placed fifth with a 148 (77, 71). Austin Terrell recorded the second top ten of his collegiate career by placing 9th with a twelve over 154 (78, 76). Dallas Shepard rounded out the team by finishing 31st (78, 82).
The Eagles play next at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Raymond, MS on February 22-23.
