The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles bounced back into the win column Thursday night by taking an 82-64 road victory over the Lady Warriors of East Central Community College.
MCC entered its game against ECCC having lost its second MACJC South Division contest earlier in the week against Southwest, so the Lady Eagles were in need of a victory over the Lady Warriors to keep pace in the race for the regular season division crown.
Sophomore guard Kristin Sampson led the Lady Eagles in the scoring department with 27 points, while Victoria Stewart added 16 points in the win.
MCC improved to 14-3 overall for the season and 6-2 in MACJC South Division play, while East Central fell to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in division play.
MCC was able to secure the sweep for the evening by taking down East Central in the men's contest by a final score of 75-71.
The Eagles improved to 4-12 overall and 3-6 inside MACJC South Division play, ECCC dropped its overall record to 6-11 and 2-7 in league play. The MCC men have now won three of its last four games after starting the season with just one victory back in November.
Both MCC basketball teams will wrap up its current three-game road trip with a trip to Hinds Monday night. The women will take to the floor at 5:30, followed by the men's contest at 7:30.
