STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi State's revamped offense did everything asked of it during last weekend's lopsided victory over Jackson State. But the degree of difficulty -- along with the stakes -- increase exponentially on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Auburn at Davis Wade Stadium.
METAIRIE, La. (AP) -- Aaron Kromer has begun his six-game stint handling head coaching duties for the Saints by providing his team with a dose of perspective. Kromer says whatever adversity the Saints must overcome because of suspensions related to the NFL's bounty investigation pales in comparison to fans whose homes were flooded by Hurricane Isaac.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore is the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week. Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner earned the defensive honor while Missouri punt return man Marcus Murphy is special teams player of the week.
ATLANTA (AP) -- Kris Medlen struck out a career high 12 to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 6-1 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday. Medlen allowed five hits without a walk in his second complete game of the season. He extended his streak of scoreless innings to 34 2-3 -- the Braves' longest since Greg Maddux in 2000 -- before the Rockies scored an unearned run in the seventh.
