CLEVELAND (AP) -- Kyrie Irving scored 20 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 105-100 win over the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night. Irving was coming off an impressive showing at All-Star weekend in Houston and scored 11 consecutive points for the Cavaliers as they broke away from an 83-all tie in the final 4:23.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Rodney Cooper had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Trevor Releford scored 17 to lift streaking Alabama to a 64-56 victory over Mississippi State on Wednesday night. The Crimson Tide finished a lackluster second half strong to claim its fourth straight victory.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Eric Smith scored 12 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with 25.1 seconds left, as South Carolina upset Mississippi 63-62 Wednesday night. The Rebels led 62-56 with five minutes to go, but missed their last seven shots in a devastating loss for their NCAA tournament hopes.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Jerrold Brooks scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half as Southern Mississippi rallied to defeat UTEP 45-39 Wednesday night. Each team posted a season low for points. The Golden Eagles have won 10 league games for an unprecedented two consecutive years.
