JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- John Aiken has been named head coach of
the Belhaven University men's basketball team. The Clarion-Ledger
reports Athletic Director Scott Little announced the promotion
yesterday. Aiken will replace Tom Kelsey, who recently left for an
assistant coaching job at LSU.

NEW YORK (AP) -- NEW YORK (AP) -- The New Orleans Hornets have won
the NBA's draft lottery and the No. 1 pick overall. After a
difficult season, the Hornets have a shot to add another superstar.
Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis is widely considered the best
player available.

DESTIN, Fla. (AP) -- The Southeastern Conference is tweaking its
football and basketball schedules with the addition of Missouri and
Texas A&M. Football coaches are debating whether to play an eight-
or nine-game conference schedule and whether to maintain
cross-division rivals like Alabama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia.

RIDGELAND, Miss. (AP) -- C Spire Wireless and Fox Sports South
have announced that the Oak Grove at Petal football game will be
one of four Mississippi prep rivalries to be telecast in the
"Bright Lights' series. Other games in the series will be
Lafayette at Oxford on Aug. 30, Jackson Prep at Pearl on Sept. 13
and Picayune at Pascagoula on Oct. 4.
