New York Giants cornerback Brian Witherspoon and several other volunteers helped out with a Habitat for Humanity project in meridian on Saturday afternoon.
Witherspoon is from Butler, Alabama and says it is good to be back in the area and lending a helping hand.
"I don't want anyone saying that just because I'm a professional athlete, you know, I'm not around," he says. "I want to come back and help the community. I think that's very important. You should always try and give back to your community. Always try to come through if you can, when you can. That's why I'm here today."
Witherspoon says the work he did on Saturday is actually easier than the game of football.
