In November 2011, Mississippi State made history when they put "#HailS State" in one of the end zones for thier 31-3 win over Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.

Now, such a thing may never happen again.

The NCAA has banned the popular twitter symbol referred to as a "hashtag". A hashtag is used to indicate a trending topic on the popular social media web site.

Yahoo sports posted the NCAA document which bans all advertising from a collegiate playing field with the exception of shcool, conference and NCAA logos.

The Columbus' Dispatch's Matthew Stevens reported the rules also include a memo that says "jersey numerals must be of a color that itself is clearly in distict contrast with the color of the jersey".

That memo will likely rule out MSU's white jerseys with silver numerals that were worn against Texas A&M in November, 2012.
