Ole Miss safety Cody Prewitt has been named to another preseason award watch list.
The Bay Springs native is listed on the watch list for the Jim Thorpe award, earned annually by the best defensive back in college football. Prewitt's junior season launched his name into the national spotlight as he intercepted six passes, tallied 71 tackles and was named first team All-American.
According to Ole Miss' athletic web site, the preseason watch list is chosen by a screening committee that compiles a list of 30 to 50 players before each season.
This is the third watch list on which you can see Prewitt's name. He's considered a candidate for the Bronco Nagurski and Chuck Bednarik awards, both of which honor the nation's best defensive player.
