The State Games of Mississippi contined Thursday at the Northwood Country Club golf course. Meridian native Lance Strickland hits shot a 77 on the tournament's second day, which tied him with Madison's Matthew Perry for third in the 14-15 year-old division.
In the 16-18 year-old division, it was Ole Miss signee Jacob Ross who stole the show. The recent brookhaven academy graduate took first place in the division. He birdied the 16th and 17th holes to finish one under par for the day.
"It's one of the bigger events in the state, and it's not just golf," said Ross. "It's baseball and.... whatever else. So it's exciting to be the state games champion."
