Mississippi State fans can start the countdown clocks to The Junction's first tailgate of the year. The Bulldogs will kick off the 2013 home football season at 2:30 p.m. against Alcorn State on CSS, the Southeastern Conference announced today as part of their release of the first three weeks of games. State will travel to Auburn in Week 3 for a 6 p.m. kickoff, with the game televised on ESPN/ESPN2 or ESPNU.
Five of the Bulldogs' 12 games now have kickoff times set. Mississippi State kicks of the season at 2:30 p.m. in Houston on ABC/ESPN2 against Oklahoma State in the Advocare Texas Kickoff at Reliant Stadium. State will also play a pair of ESPN Thursday Night contests, hosting Kentucky on Oct. 24 and the Egg Bowl on Nov. 28. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. for both contests.
Head coach Dan Mullen, along with Tyler Russell, Benardrick McKinney and Kaleb Eulls, will travel to Birmingham tomorrow for Southeastern Conference Media Days. Bulldog players report to campus on July 31, with the first practice set for August 1.
