MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Daveon Boardingham and Neil Watson scored 15 points each to lead Southern Miss to a 67-62 win over Houston Baptist in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles (5-0) trailed by as much as 10 points in the first half but took the lead midway through the second half on a Jerrold Brooks 3-pointer and didn't let it slip away. Michael Craig and Deonte Houston were able to pad the lead in the final minute to secure the win.
Southern Miss struggled on offense, hitting just 20 of 53 from the field (38 percent), but capitalized on turnovers.
Rob Lewis led the Huskies (1-4) with 15 points, while Dauson Womack added 12 and Ricmonds Vilde hauled in 12 rebounds. Southern Miss went 18 of 41 from the field (44 percent) and 21 of 31 from the penalty line.
