The best of the best baseball players in the State arrive in Meridian this Wednesday for the State Games of Mississippi All-Star Baseball Tournament. One hundred and forty-four players and their coaches will arrive at Meridian Community College to begin practice for the Games. The All-Star teams held try-outs June 1st in eight districts around the State, representing more than 70 communities throughout the state. All players are prospective 2012 and 2013 graduates from public and private high schools. Professional scouts from community colleges, universities, and professional baseball teams, including the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Royals and the Cincinnati Reds, will be on-hand to scout the players.
The eight district teams will play Thursday through Sunday on the Meridian Community College Campus. The first game begins at 10 AM on Thursday. Admission is five dollars per day. For more information or game brackets, go to http://www.stategamesofms.org/.
