- Southern Miss senior forward Michael Craig garnered selection as the Conference USA men's basketball Player of the Week based on voting from a media panel covering the 16 league schools and released Monday afternoon.

Craig led Southern Miss to a 2-0 victory this week. He averaged 16.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals. He also connected on 87.5-percent (14-of-16) from the floor, missing just two shots in two games. He also averaged four offensive rebounds.

Craig began the week coming off the bench in an 84-62 victory over Rice. The Phoenix, Ariz., native scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds, had three assists and two steals in the win. Craig was 6-of-7 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line.

The senior followed that up by earning the start in an 80-71 victory over Conference USA leader Louisiana Tech, who was receiving votes in the Associated Press poll. Craig recorded his fifth double-double of the year and sixth of his career, scoring 17 points and pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds. He also held Louisiana Tech's Michale Kyser, who came into the game averaging 7.6 rebounds and 3.9 blocks, to just two rebounds and zero blocks.

For the week, Craig's performance on the boards helped Southern Miss outrebounded the opposition by a combined 45 rebounds. Craig is currently fourth in the league in field goal percentage (.600) and eighth in rebounding (7.8).

UTEP's Vince Hunter was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week.
