Two ECCC Warriors Among Six UWA Baseball Signees

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama head baseball coach Gary Rundles announced that four right-handed pitchers, an outfielder and an infielder have signed baseball letters of intent with the Tigers during the early signing period.

“We are very pleased with the caliber and credentials of these players,” head coach Gary Rundles said. “We expect them all to be important assets to the program.”

Three of the pitchers will be transferring to UWA from Mississippi junior colleges. Jordan Mata will join the Tigers from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, while Mitchell Wooten and Severino Signa are from East Central Community College. The fourth right-hander, Caleb Derouen, is from Thomasville High School.

Mata was a South Mississippi All-Star in his junior and senior seasons at Biloxi (Miss.) High School. Signa was an MIAS All-State selection at Deer Creek (Miss.) High School and appeared in seven games for ECCC with no decisions and a 6.00 ERA last season. Following an all-state season at Edinburg (Miss.) High, Wooten sat out last season with an injured elbow.

Derouen was a member of the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association All-Star South Team Three after posting a 5-1 record, two shutouts and a 2.63 ERA. He also batted .361 for Thomasville.

Parker Madden, from Snead State (Ala.) Community College by way of from Kell (Ga.) High School, led KHS with a .567 batting average and 40 runs batted in as a senior. He was also named the GHSA Region 5-AAAA Player of the Year, named to the Georgia Dugout Club's All-Tournament Team and selected to numerous all-star lists.

Marcus Dicenzo is an infielder from Ontario, Canada. He played second base, shortstop and third base for the Ontario Terriers and is one of 11 players from his team to sign college scholarships.
