LIVINGSTON, Alabama --- One of the biggest surprises in the area this basketball season has been the play of the West Alabama women.

The Tigers are off to an 11-2 start, one of their best ever. They are being led by Craig Roden, who is in the first year of his second stint with the Tigers. Roden coached at UWA once before in the 1980s, and he's also in alumnus.

One of the other big stories for the UWA women has been the play of Mystee Dale, the East Central Community College product transferred from Marshall this past summer, and she's already won Gulf South Conference Eastern Division player of the week four times this season.

UWA opens conference play January 20th as the Tigers take on the University of West Florida in Livingston.
