KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) named West Alabama men's basketball senior Desmond Raymond to the 2014 Coaches' Division II All-District first team on Wednesday.
Raymond, a native of New Orleans, La., was selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division II.
The six foot guard was one of seven seniors on the Tigers' 2014 squad, but quickly emerged as one of the primary leaders, guiding the team to the most Gulf South Conference wins in school history and first NCAA playoff berth since 1982.
Raymond ended the regular season as the Tigers leading scorer, sixth in the GSC, with 17.3 points per game. He scored double digits in 24 of the 28 games he played in, breaking the 20-point mark 10 times and reaching his career-high of 29 points at Union on Jan. 25th. He netted his 500th career point at home against West Florida on Feb. 8th and ended the season 485 points; 643 career.
Along with his ability to score points, Raymond also led his team with 99 assists (3.5 per game) and 37 steals (1.3 per game).
