Saturday in Meridian hundreds of hopeful fishermen gathered around the lake at Q.V. Sykes Park to try and reel in a big one.

The annual youth fishing rodeo lasted from 7:30 to 11 AM at the park, and kids caught everything from catfish to brim, having a great time along the way.

The rodeo attracts hundreds of kids every year and is one of many youth fishing rodeos across the state every year.

We'll have more on this event and hear from plenty of the kids involved on Monday's edition of Joel's Outdoors Adventures during Newscenter 11 Sports at 6 & 10 Monday.
