Wade is glad to be back home. After spending two years at WJBF-TV in Augusta, Georgia, where he served as chief of the station's bureau in Aiken, South Carolina, Wade is now back in Meridian where he began his career at WTOK in 1997.
During his first stint here, Wade did virtually every job in the newsroom. He was a reporter, a producer, and a photographer, in addition to anchoring news, sports, and weather on every show at the station at one time or another.
He won several awards during his time at WTOK, including a first place award from the Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters Association for his series, "A Dying Breed," that focused on the hardships of farmers.
He left WTOK in March 2003 to work in Augusta. During his time there, he did most of his work just across the Savannah River in South Carolina, running a two man bureau that covered issues related to the Palmetto State.
Wade returned to WTOK in March 2005, where he immediately was put to work. Since he's been back, he's taken over as anchor and producer of Live At Five. He also covered the Edgar Ray Killen trial, and co-anchored live continuous coverage of both Hurricanes Dennis and Katrina.
Wade's wife of 3 1/2 years, Crystal, serves as the Meridian area District Nutritionist for the State Department of Health. They recently had a new addition to their family. Nicklaus Reed Phillips is their first child. He was born on July 28th.
Wade and Crystal are members of Northcrest Baptist Church in Meridian, where he is a Bible Study Teacher. Wade is originally from Sebastopol, Mississippi, where he graduated from high school. He is also a graduate of East Central Community College in Decatur, and the University of Southern Mississippi.
