Tametria Conner began her journalism career at the age of 16 as a disc jockey for WJMG 92.1 in her hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss. She went on to become a staff writer for The Hattiesburg American until she left Hattiesburg for Berry College in Rome, Ga. While at Berry College, she received the 2003 "Al Neuharth Free Spirit Journalism Scholarship" which is awarded to only one male and one female from each state. Tametria is a recent 2007 Berry College Honors Graduate. While at Berry College, Tametria was a veteran reporter for the Berry campus TV news station. She earned the "Ned Peterson Award for Excellence in Journalism" as well as "Best News Feature Package" honors.
She spent some of her holidays home from school as a reporter for WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg and also enjoyed interning at WTVF-TV in Nashville, TN and with NY1 News in New York, NY. Tametria believes reporting is a public service, "I am not just a journalist, I am a public servant. It is my duty to be in the know and find the news that affects us." Tametria loves to sing, watch "Matlock" on TV, visit friends and family; and staying actively involved in church activities. She is very excited about being in the Meridian area and looks forward to a successful career at WTOK-TV.
