Lucas Calvert is the newest member of WTOK's 2011 Scholastic Sports Team. Calvert has played tennis, soccer and football all while attending Neshoba Central high school, "It is pretty hard with your time. You have a lot of after school activities and athletics going on at the same time but you have to manage everything and it's a lot of work but it's really rewarding in the end and it really pays off," says Calvert.
Calvert is more than just a student and an athlete. He's also student body president, beta club president and gives free tennis lessons to local children, "He's one of the best student athletes that I know as far as balancing his academics along with his athletic responsibilities. I don't think I can recall of any other candidate that deserves this more than he does. He's going to do great things in his future," says Calvert's soccer coach, Cody Killen.
Calvert plans on attending East Mississippi Community College in the fall. He'll be on the tennis team, as well as a member of the band.
