The Meridian City Council has unanimously approved a request from Mississippi Company that will involve land connected to one of this area's premier parks. The high voltage lines will be located on Bonita Lakes property. However, they will not actually sit close to either lake. Instead, they'll be located near Highway 45. The lines will support the lignite coal plant that's being built in Kemper County. They will transmit an estimated 235,000 volts of electricity. Work on the lines is expected to start within the next month.
