The streets of downtown Meridian will be filled with music Saturday for the Music in May Festival. Sponsored by Faces Jazz Lounge, acts from: Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana will perform. Proceeds from the festival will be used to offset medical expenses for a Meridian woman who is in need of a kidney transplant.
"She's actually a patient of mine," says Dr. Benny Wright. "She came to me approximately a month ago because she was born with a condition in renal failure and until all of her benefits kick in we're going to help defray some of the costs."
Mississippi's Bluesman of the Year will be one of the featured guests.
Much of the Music in May Festival will be held outside Faces Lounge, 820 22nd Avenue. There will be activities for children and a high heel dash. The cost is $10. Festivities will start at 2 p.m. and wrap up at 2 a.m.
