Sardis Lower Lake to Host Youth Fishing Rodeo
JACKSON –Youth 15 years and younger are invited to a youth fishing rodeo at the Cypress Point Recreation area on the Lower Lake of Sardis beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6. The free event is hosted by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP).

The Cypress Point Recreation area is located just off Highway 35. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers.

The event is a good opportunity for young anglers to fish a lake that is well stocked with catfish which are typically easy to catch. Families are invited to come enjoy quality time together in a safe environment.

JACKSON –Youth 15 years and younger are invited to a youth fishing rodeo at the Coahoma County Expo Center beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6. The free event is hosted by the Coahoma County Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP).

The Coahoma County Expo Center is located at 1150 Wildcat Drive in Clarksdale. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers.

The event is a good opportunity for young anglers to fish a lake that is well stocked with catfish which are typically easy to catch. Families are invited to come enjoy quality time together in a safe environment.

JACKSON – In celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week, youth 15 years and younger are invited to a youth fishing rodeo at the Turcotte Education Center beginning at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6. The free event is hosted by The Mississippi Wildlife Federation, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP), The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, Sport Fish Restoration, Coca-Cola Bottling, Blue Bunny Ice Cream, Frito Lay, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Brown Bottling Group, ESI Supply, LLC, BankPlus, Keep the Rez Beautiful, Allied Waste Services, Keesler Federal Credit Union and all local Wal-Mart stores.

The Turcotte Education Center is located at 506 Hwy 43 South approximately 7 miles south of Canton. Fishing gear and bait will be provided.

The event is a good opportunity for young anglers to fish a lake that is well stocked with catfish which are typically easy to catch. Additionally, youth can learn the basics of fish and fishing: how to tie a knot, select the correct lure, bait hooks, cast, what a fish is, and where it lives. Families are invited to come enjoy quality time together in a safe environment.
