JACKSON – Children 15 years and younger are invited to a youth fishing rodeo at George M. Harrison Municipal Park beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 14. The free event is hosted by the City of Olive Branch and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP).

George M. Harrison Municipal Park is located at located at 8700 Church Rd at the intersection of Hwy 305, Olive Branch. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers.

The event is a good opportunity for young anglers to fish a lake that is well stocked with catfish which are typically easy to catch. Families are invited to come enjoy quality time together in a safe environment.

JACKSON – Children 15 years and younger are invited to a youth fishing rodeo at Legion State Park beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7. The free event is hosted by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP).

Legion State Park is located two miles north of Louisville on North Columbus Ave. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers.

The event is a good opportunity for young anglers to fish a lake that is well stocked with catfish which are typically easy to catch. Families are invited to come enjoy quality time together in a safe environment.

The Gator Pond is located near Laurel. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers.

Youth Fishing Day at Lake Tangipahoa

MDWFP Percy Quin Lake (Tangipahoa) Opening Day Announced
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) will host a youth fishing day at Lake Tangipahoa on Saturday, September 17, from 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Fishing will be open to youth 15 years and under. All youth must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21 years old and has a valid Mississippi fishing license. Lake Tangipahoa will open to the general public on Wednesday, September 21 at 6 a.m.

Lake Tangipahoa is a recently renovated 490-acre lake located at Percy Quin State Park outside McComb. The lake has been stocked with Florida Bass, Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, and White Crappie.
