Perdido Key's signature wine event returns to Villagio April 2-5, where casual wine drinkers and seasoned connoisseurs alike will enjoy meeting wine representatives, learning the origins of favorite wines, food and wine pairings, live music, art and more. Throughout the festival, guests will have the chance to taste a variety of wines from different regions, including the U.S., Europe and South America.

The festival begins Thursday, April 2 with a "Taste of Perdido" gala. Enjoy signature dishes from local restaurants paired with an ideal wine. Tickets for this special event must be purchased in advance online or at the Visitors Information Center at $25 per person or $45 per couple. Jazz guitarist Pat McCann will be the featured performer, and Connie Blum will be the featured artist. Blum’s artistic mediums are one-of-a-kind glass, mosaic and jewelry pieces.

Tickets for Friday and Saturday’s tastings are available online, at the Visitors Information Center or at the festival for $15, which includes a collectible wine glass and five tasting tickets. Additional tasting tickets will be available for $2, and all wines poured will be available for purchase by the bottle or case. Guests will be able to taste eight new and different wines daily – four red and four white. Friday’s tasting will be held from 2-6 p.m. and on Saturday from noon-6 p.m., visitors can also shop local vendors, including arts, crafts, food and much more. Both days will feature live music.

Sunday, April 5 is your chance to get to know Perdido Key at your own pace. Restaurants will be serving delicious holiday fare for our visitors and locals to enjoy.

The USSSA Amateur Golf Tour is a division of USSSA (United States Sports Specialty Association ); a sport governing body of 13+ sports and non-profit organization founded in 1968.

Through this tour, Magnolia Sports Promotions, LLC has partnered with the Mississippi Children’s Museum to provide a portion of the proceeds to their organization as they seek to support the desire, dedication, and determination of youth, both near and far. Nationally, a portion of the proceeds will be donated by USSSA Amateur Golf to Feed the Children, the tour’s national charity.

Tournaments are open to anyone 18 or older. The annual membership fee for joining the tour is $0 per person, while the registration fee for each tournament will range from $90 to $110. An additional benefit that this tour offers is that guests of the tournament participants can experience the tour event with a $2 spectator fee for each tournament.

We have 16 carnival games for the kids to play and several vendors coming for the adults. Gate entry will be free. Tickets will be on sale for the kids carnival games 10 tickets for $5 or 20 tickets for $10. Kids won't leave empty handed as they will turn in their tickets won on cool prizes at our prize booth. Some of the games include: tilt table ball, ping pong ball throw, skeet ball, hoop shot, water boat race, golf ball squirt, a maze, tic tac toe, washer toss, face painting, tattoos, goodie walk and much much more. Make sure to bring your appetite because Long Creek will be grilling up some great food for all to enjoy. All proceeds go to help purchase much need gear, air packs, and supplies for the fire house.

The Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias Affiliate of Susan G. Komen® (CMSM) is scheduled to host its 16th Annual Race for the Cure on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Old Capitol Museum in downtown Jackson. The morning’s activities will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a special survivor breakfast. Race for the Cure will include the new Motorcycle for Mounds ride, Kids One Mile Fun Run/Walk, an optional timed 5K and timed 10K. The event will feature the Kids for the Cure activities tent, the ever-popular Team Tailgate area and sponsor tents. The “Pink It Up” contest will recognize the best “Pinked Up” person. Other contests include best-decorated team tailgate and best t-shirt design. Put on your pink tutu, form a team, and Race to help end breast cancer.

Komen Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias is fighting to save lives and end breast cancer forever in our 59-county service area. The Affiliate was established in 1999 as an all-volunteer organization with the mission of creating a world without breast cancer. We have invested over $2.85 million in community breast health programs in 59 counties throughout the state. 75 percent of the net income raised from Komen events stays in Mississippi to fund breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment projects to uninsured and under-insured men and women. A minimum of 25 percent of net income from events supports the Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Programs, which fund groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific conferences around the world.
