Date: Saturday, April 11, 2015
Times: Registration Opens 6:00 a.m. Walk/Run begins at 8:15 a.m.
Location: Old Capitol Museum, downtown Jackson
Admission: Registration Fee: Adults - $30 for 1-mile and 5K walk, $35 for timed 5K walk/run, $40 for timed 10K run. Kids/Students/Youth Fun Run - $20. Motorcycle for Mounds ride - $30. All pricing includes event t-shirt.

The Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias Affiliate of Susan G. Komen® (CMSM) is scheduled to host its 16th Annual Race for the Cure on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Old Capitol Museum in downtown Jackson. The morning’s activities will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a special survivor breakfast. Race for the Cure will include the new Motorcycle for Mounds ride, Kids One Mile Fun Run/Walk, an optional timed 5K and timed 10K. The event will feature the Kids for the Cure activities tent, the ever-popular Team Tailgate area and sponsor tents. The “Pink It Up” contest will recognize the best “Pinked Up” person. Other contests include best-decorated team tailgate and best t-shirt design. Put on your pink tutu, form a team, and Race to help end breast cancer.

Komen Central Mississippi Steel Magnolias is fighting to save lives and end breast cancer forever in our 59-county service area. The Affiliate was established in 1999 as an all-volunteer organization with the mission of creating a world without breast cancer. We have invested over $2.85 million in community breast health programs in 59 counties throughout the state. 75 percent of the net income raised from Komen events stays in Mississippi to fund breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment projects to uninsured and under-insured men and women. A minimum of 25 percent of net income from events supports the Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Programs, which fund groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific conferences around the world.

The Third annual event will comprise of several special happenings including a picnic lunch,18-hole shotgun start golf tournament and a closing awards ceremony. In addition to the tournament, there will also be a drawdown for a trip to the SEC Championship football game and a ladies champagne brunch at the home of Susan and Charles Laney that will feature cooking and wine paring demonstrations and other useful entertaining tips. The day will conclude with a Silent Auction featuring art created by Mustard Seedsters, weekend getaways, paintings by local artists and other exclusive packages. The City of Meridian's Planning Division, Keep America Beautiful Division and the Parks and Recreation Department are partnering for a special EARTH DAY CELEBRATION at Highland Park April 22, 2009.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

We need your help to keep America Beautiful. During hurricanes Ivan and Katrina we lost many trees in our community. No where is the impact seen so clearly as in Highland Park. Hundred year-old trees were lost or severely damaged. The Great American Cleanup continues through May 31st, but on this special day, Keep Meridian/Lauderdale County Beautiful is targeting Tree Planting and other beautification projects in Highland Park. We will provide lunch, gloves, and trash bags.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Meridian Parks & Recreation Department will conduct the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 11, 2009 @ 11:00 A.M. @ Highland Park.

Two Age Groups:
3-6 year olds & 7-10 year olds

3000 eggs with candy inside will be hidden. Some eggs will have numbers inside matching the displayed prizes with that same number. Special prizes will be given for the GOLD & SILVER eggs.

The Easter Bunny Will Be There To Greet All!
Balloons! Candy! And A Whole Lot Of Fun!

The Carousel Will Open Following The Easter Egg Hunt!!
