Community Chorus Concert

The Community Chorus and Cambiata Singers of Meridian will present a program of Broadway and American favorites, entitled, Younger Than Springtime, on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 3:00pm.

Conducted by Dr. Bob Hermetz, the 52-voice ensemble will be accompanied by pianist Wayne McInnis along with soloists, Claire Hanschke, soprano, and Robert Evans, baritone.

The two ensembles will join voices of two selections, Morning Has Broken, by Mack Wilberg, and the traditional melody, Let There Be Peace on Earth. Cambiata Singers will present a medley of the Best Broadway, and a delightful setting of songs from Mary Poppins, including, Chim-Chim-Cheree, Feed The Birds, Step in Time and many others. The Community Chorus will present choral highlights of Rogers and Hammerstein's South Pacific and carousel, including such tunes as Bali Hai, Some Enchanted Evening, If I Loved You, and You'll Never Walk Alone. A Suite of American folk songs and sacred pieces will round out the program.

The Cambiata Singers were formed in 2007 and are composed of 16 members ranging in age from nine to eighteen. Director is Dr. Hermetz, assisted by Erin Rohr, and pianist Wayne McInnis. The Community Chorus Association of Meridian (CCAM) was formed in 1971 by Conductor Hermetz while teaching at Meridian Community College, leading to a continued legacy of significant choral offerings to the are for forty-four years up to the present time. The last presentation of the CCAM was the Magnificat by John Rutter at Trinity Presbyterian Church on November 9, 2014. The chorus rehearses at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesdays from 7-8:30pm. Cambiata Singers meet at Trinity Lutheran on Sundays from 2-3:30pm. Interested singers may contact Dr. Hermetz at, or (601) 678-5477.
