EAST MISSISSIPPI JOB FAIR RETURNS TO EMCC APRIL 30

MAYHEW – The East Mississippi Job Fair has something for everyone – including people who already have jobs.
The Job Fair returns to East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus April 30. Organizers expect 50 or more employers and educational institutions to attend. And more vendor registrations are coming in every day.
Some of those employers will seek to fill immediate openings, while the educators will offer training that could help currently employed people “level up” to a better job.
“Whether you are seeking immediate employment, want to upgrade skills and credentials, network to learn about career opportunities in today’s economy, need assistance to transition from military to civilian life, or learn how volunteering can help your career, the East Mississippi Job Fair is for you,” said Linda Gates, EMCC district director of job placement and work-based services.
Hundreds of job-seekers attend the annual fair, which traditionally hosts representatives from local industrial heavyweights such as Yokohama Tire Manufacturing Mississippi, PACCAR, Steel Dynamics, Airbus and Stark Aerospace, as well as other regional businesses.
The EMCC Workforce Services team, which handles training for many industries in the region, will also be on hand to speak with participants interested in earning new credentials. Representatives from EMCC’s Adult Basic Education division, The Launch Pad, will also be there to discuss GED testing and preparation to transition to Workforce Services training or college credit courses.
“There’s something at the Job Fair for someone who doesn’t have a high school diploma all the way to people with graduate school experience. There are many avenues to get training and improve one’s upward mobility,” said Gates.
The list of vendors signed up to participate in the job fair is available on EMCC’s website, www.eastms.edu; look for the East Mississippi Job Fair link on the home page. This list will be updated until the final day before the fair. Additional resources can be found on EMCC’s website, including a Job Fair Survival Guide, which can help job-seekers get the most out of their visit.
There is also a pre-registration form available on the EMCC website to help participants gain quicker access on the day of the Job Fair.
East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus is at 8731 S. Frontage Road in Mayhew, off U.S. 45 Alternate. For more information, call Linda Gates at (662) 243-1978 or email lgates@eastms.edu.
