Poplar Springs Elementary School 3rd Grade Field Trip
Friday, November 2, 2012
Third grade students will visit the Soule Steam Festival and take a walking tour of Historic Downtown Meridian.

English Language Learner (ELL) Annual Parent Meeting

Students in 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades will invite family members to eat Thanksgiving lunch at assigned times.

Parents are invited to attend this workshop led by Mrs. Linda Posey, Science Fair Chairperson, to gather information on the process of completing a Science Fair Project with their student.

Poplar Springs Elementary School Veteran's Day Program
Tuesday, November 13 - 9 a.m.
29th Ave entrance to school (weather permitting)
Students will celebrate and honor Veterans during this program. At the conclusion of the program, students will place flags in honor or memory of veterans along the 29th Ave entrance of PSE.

Northwest Middle School Arts Integration
Wednesday, November 14
Northwest Middle School students and teachers will be treated to two arts-integrated activities -Tammy Stanford-Williams will present a dance workshop which serves as art integration into the math and science curriculum, and Terrence Roberts will present “The Art of Storytelling” to Language Arts classes which integrates literacy, math, and social skills. They both will hold after-school workshops for the teachers. Northwest Middle School is a MS Arts Commission Whole Arts School.

American Educator’s Week Retired Teachers Luncheon
Wednesday, November 14 – 11:30 a.m.
Ross Collins Wildcat Café
MPSD will honor retired teachers in the East Central Mississippi Retired Educators Association with a luncheon. The food will be prepared by the Ross Collins Culinary and Food Service students. Students from the MHS F.I.S.H club, MHS Lamplighters Choral Performance group, MHS Art, and Ross Collins Child Care Center will make special presentations.

Carver Middle School Family Literacy Night

Wednesday, November 14 - 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church – 544 49th Avenue

Parents and students are encouraged to attend this monthly gathering where Carver staff share information on what students are learning in the classroom. Parents and students will participate in fun activities and refreshments will be served.

Ross Collins Child Care Center Thanksgiving Luncheon and Program

Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to attend a Thanksgiving program and eat lunch with the Ross Collins Child Care children.

Oakland Heights Elementary School Fall Festival
Thursday, November 15 – 4 to 6 p.m.

Magnolia Middle School Turkey Trot
Friday, November 16 – 1:30 p.m.
Magnolia Middle School teachers and students will participate in the Turkey Trot which is a one mile fun run around Magnolia Middle and Parkview Elementary Schools to promote health and fitness. The first place winner receives a turkey, second place wins a pie, and third place takes home a bag of apples.

West Hills Elementary School Language Arts Boot Camp
