Subject: JIMMIE RODGERS PAGEANT
Date: Sun, 3 Mar 2013 10:23:25 -0600

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE JIMMIE RODGERS FOUNDATION ON A VERY SUCCESSFUL PAGEANT! The Teamwork of the board members was outstanding. Barbara Watson as committee chairman stepped up to the plate with leadership in organizing and revitalizing the project and her committee of Billy Duckworth, Shine Pogue, Jennifer Taylor and Stacy Davis really did their work well as a committee and working under Barbara’s guidance. Other board members really stepped up to assist and we owe a special thanks to Greg Hatcher, Stacy Davis for filling in for Carolyn Smith who is ill, Richard Ferguson, Josh Taylor, Billy Duckworth, Shine Pogue were all there pitching in to assist Barbara and her committee in any way they were needed. We really could not have done it without the help of all of those mentioned above. Good Show Jimmie Rodgers Board members! If you were not able to be there you missed a good event and some good fellowship with other board members. It is always good for the public to see the board present and working together.

The publicity was very good in advance, the stage looked great, there were 30 contestants, the crowd was good, the weather was freezing and we persevered in spite of that, there was a congenial and cooperative atmosphere. The contestants were lovely and the past queens did a beautiful job in representing Jimmie Rodgers and in helping with the pageant. Suzi McCraw dancers were excellent and the talent of

Chandler and Abby was great!

THANKS TO OUR PRESENTING SPONSOR WTOK for the great spots Julie Walker produced and for the coverage on Good Morning Meridian and Llive at Five!

THANKS TO LAUDERDALE COUNTY TOURISM FOR THEIR SUPPORT ON THIS PROJECT. . Dede Mogollon was there to present the flowers to the Miss Hospitality winners. There were three contestants, one in Meridian and two in Lauderdale County. They were all very pretty and gave wonderful commercials on tourism in Lauderdale County. I believe that Tourism will be able to utilize their ideas which is what this is all about.

SPECIAL THANKS TO PENNY RANDALL FOR HELPING US COMBINE THESE TWO PAGEANTS. WE APPRECIATE HER SUPPORT AND HER ENTHUSIASM FOR BOTH PROGRAMS.

We had many contestants in the Jimmie Rodgers program from out of town and this is very good. We will give you a breakdown on the home towns when we send you information on the winners.

It was a long day beginning at 8 in the a.m. for many of the workers, continuing at 1 for the interviews with the three judges and the doors to the Temple opened at 6 and the program started at 7. It did not conclude until after 10:00 p.m. so we did not make it for the TV coverage even though WTOK came and filmed early in the evening and was on stand by for the winners. Hopefully, you will see more about it on the news tonight and tomorrow. I talked to The Meridian Star and they will get it in the paper on Monday we hope. So look in the paper and TV to see our coverage.

Sydney Covington did a great job as MC. Thanks to Sydney for your support!

THANKS TO ALL WHO WERE INVOLVED. A SPECIAL THANKS TO BARBARA AND HER HARD WORKING COMMITTEE! THANKS TO THE PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS AND CONTESTANTS! IT WAS A REALLY GOOD SHOW!
