The National Weather Service has issued wind and flash flood watches for portions of Mississippi as a storm system approaches the state from the west.
A wind advisory was in effect for most of the state on Tuesday, while a flash flood watch was posted for extreme portions of Mississippi through Tuesday night.
High surf warnings were in effect along Gulf Coast beaches.
The weather bureau said the greatest chance of thunderstorms, some possibly severe, would be early Wednesday morning.
