The United States Geological Survey now has a better way to help protect the public during this hurricane season.

They have created a new downlink backup system that will ensure emergency officials have access to streamflow information from over 7,000 rivers and streams across the United States.

The information will be used to make decisions about flood and storm response activities when it comes to landfalling hurricanes. The system will also be available to help with issuing flood warnings.
