BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Another Code Orange o-zone alert has been issued for Jefferson and Shelby counties for Tuesday. The alert warns there will be elevated levels of ozone in the area and could affect people with respiratory problems.
To cope with the conditions, residents in the two counties are asked to reduce driving by car pooling or taking the bus, combining errands into one trip and postponing unnecessary travel.
Residents are also asked to not burn leaves or trash and gas up after 6 p.m. when the heat of the day has subsided.
