A shortwave working its way into the south will be bringing a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is currently in effect for Winston, Noxubee, and Pickens County and goes until 7pm tonight. Thunderstorms will start to develop around 3pm and but the heaviest storms should arrive around 5-6pm. Though there is some instability in the atmosphere I’m not expecting anything major. We could see some storms with hail and strong winds, but I am expecting only isolated storms like this. Storms should clear the area by about 9pm tonight.
For tonight expect a very some slightly cooler temps in the mid to upper 60’s. We should see some clearing during the overnight hours as well. Tomorrow temperatures will be some of the warmest we’ve seen getting into the lower to mid 90s with partly cloudy skies. Conditions should be perfect for a day on the Chunky River for the raft race.
For the next seven days temperatures will hover around the 90 degree mark. Clouds will be on the increase as we head into a new work week. Cold front is expected to come through the area bringing rain chances for Tuesday. Temperatures will also be cooler for Tuesday around 87 degrees even as low as 85 depending on the arrival of showers. Things will start to warm back up on Wednesday and we will continue to see a chance of shower activity Wednesday afternoon. Things will start to die down by Thursday.
