Friday, March 1 Forecast Discussion

Posted: Fri 11:34 AM, Mar 01, 2013

As we turn the calendar into March, we begin meteorological spring. Actual Spring is still 19 days away, and it feels like it outside today and especially this weekend. I hope you haven't put your winter clothes away just yet!

As has been mentioned for most of this week, Saturday will see the chance of a flurry. It appears now that we are a day away that the best chance for a flurry will stay well to our north in the Golden Triangle and especially into north Alabama. However, we may be able to squeeze out a flurry or two in locations along and north of Highway 16. We will lack the moisture to get anything more than a flake, and any snow you do see will be a small, dry snow flake, not a big, wet one. Outside of the flurry chance, it will be a raw winter day with temperatures struggling to 40 degrees and a strong northwest wind at 10-15 making the wind chill even worse!

After tomorrow, we will start to thaw on Sunday as we return to near 50 degrees and back into the 60s to start next week. A cold front will swing through on Tuesday bringing us rain and then an even big warm up looks to take place for the end of next week, but we will only get to or just above normal.
