Friday Evening Weather Discussion

High pressure extends high into the atmosphere and will work to cool the atmosphere from top to bottom in our area. To do so, the high pressure ridge will bring down cooler air from Canada into the Deep South. As long as the high pressure is centered west of us, the cool wind will continue to blow into our area. A deep-layer low pressure trough over the Western U.S. will weaken as it moves around the top of our high pressure. A little bit of wind energy may shoot off the base of that trough to bring a little more cloud cover on Sunday that we previously expected. That additional cloud cover bring a shower or two, but most of us will likely stay dry on Sunday. Our high pressure center will shift to our east on Sunday, and a warmer wind will blow into our area. Another cold front will pivot around low pressure that is forecast to be over the Eastern Great Lakes. Our high pressure's eastward retreat will be accompanied by some weakening that will allow the cold front to drop southward into our area. West of that high pressure's center will be the warmer air I mentioned, but deeper atmospheric moisture will also flow northward and lift along the cold front. We will easily notice more cloud cover on Monday. The amount of moisture present will be the factor that determines whether rain falls with the frontal passage on Monday. For now computer model output suggests the moisture will increase enough to warrant rain in the forecast. Following the cold frontal passage late Monday, high pressure will move in from the northwest and bring temperatures back down into the lower and middle 70's for highs and 40's for lows after a very slight warm up Monday preceding the cold front.

Tonight will be clear and seasonably cool. The low will be near 45. The wind will be light and from the north. Tomorrow will be sunny. The high will be near 76. The wind will be from the east-southeast at 3-7 mph. Sunday will be marked by more clouds and a slight chance for a shower or two. The morning low will be near 49. The afternoon high will be near 79. Monday will be mostly cloudy with periods of rain and a few thunderstorms. The morning low will be near 53. The afternoon high will be near 78. Tuesday will become mostly sunny after any morning clouds and rain retreat. The morning low will be near 53. The afternoon high will be near 76. Wednesday will be sunny. The morning low will be near 45. The afternoon high will be near 71. Thursday will be sunny. The morning low will be near 48. The afternoon high will be near 76. Friday will be mostly sunny. The morning low will be near 51. The afternoon high will be near 79.
