Local residents that Newscenter 11 spoke with on Wednesday night said they are not concerned about any winter weather approaching our area.
"Well, I'm one, I believe it when I see it," Shirelle Davis of Meridian said.
The parking lot at the Bonita Walmart Supercenter was only about half full and shoppers told Newscenter 11 that the inside of the store was not busy.
In the meantime, LEMA Director David Sharp and his staff spent part of Wednesday afternoon on a conference call with the National Weather Service about the potential for severe weather.
"This is not a major event," Sharp said. "It's not something that you need to go buy the grocery store out."
Sharp will return to the LEMA offices at 4 a.m. on Thursday to monitor the storm.
