Severe Weather Safety

With the increased risk for tornadoes and damaging wind from severe thunderstorms, remember what to do if a tornado threatens your area.

Safe places to be in tornadoes are underground in a basement or in a storm room. If you do not have either, move to a small room (bathroom or hall closet or hallway) in the middle of a HOUSE and put as many walls between you and outside as you can. If you live in a mobile home, you should evacuate and find more substantial shelter.

Gather things that you may need after a tornado, like cell phones, shoes, medicines, etc. Take those with you into your shelter if necessary.

With this event taking place on Christmas, many of us have guests in town. Make sure they also know what to do in the event of a tornado.
