Sunday 11/4 Forecast Discussion

Posted: Sun 7:37 PM, Nov 04, 2012

Since Daylight Saving Time ended early this morning, you've probably noticed that it got dark early tonight. The sun officially set at 5:02 PM in Meridian, and the days are only going to get shorter until the Winter Solstice. The cold front moved through a little faster than expected this morning, with some waking up to thunder and rain. The rest of today featured partly to mostly cloudy skies and a pleasant afternoon. Now behind the front, tonight will be much colder than previous nights with lows dipping down into the low 40s by daybreak tomorrow. Tomorrow looks to be a nice day with a high in the mid 60s, but clouds will increase during the day ahead of a disturbance that will make its way in here Monday evening into Tuesday morning. I expect some scattered showers and storms between Monday night into Tuesday Morning, but with the atmosphere not forecast to be very unstable, and the most favorable upper level dynamics for convection to our North, strong storms and severe weather should not be a problem. As the disturbance passes, we'll clear out during the day on Tuesday, and stay with the cool and clear weather for the rest of the week. Highs will moderate back to the 70s by the end of the week, and lows should stay mainly in the low to mid 40s. The disturbance that will pass over us tomorrow night will most likely curve up the East coast as a powerful Nor'Easter, unfortunately bringing the areas ravaged by Hurricane Sandy rain, gusty winds, and possibly snow. This week looks very typical for early November.
