Sunday, January 6 Discussion

Posted: Sun 8:50 PM, Jan 06, 2013

January so far as been a bit cool to seasonal with clouds and rain. With the sun finally breaking out over this weekend, we will star the new week of with sunshine as well, but that sunshine will turn to clouds on Tuesday and rain on Wednesday. Now typically, when we see rain, temperatures are held down, but that won't be the case this week.

Our system arriving on Wednesday/Thursday will tap into some warmer air in the Gulf of Mexico and pull it northwards. Conversely, the cold air is not behind this system, but constrained to our north, so no big cool down is on the way. Instead, temperatures will warm to near 70 on Thursday and break 70 for the first time this year on Saturday before our next cool down looks to arrive on Sunday.

The system on Thursday looks to bring copious rain to already saturated grounds, so flooding will be something we watch for this week. Also, depending on where the center of low pressure tracks, we could see some thunderstorms. Right now, it is too early to say if we see storms or if those storms will be severe, but Jeff and I will keep you updated through the week.
