Thursday Evening Weather Discussion

A mid-to-upper level low pressure wave kicking east across the Plains is already pushing some high-altitude clouds over our Mississippi and Alabama this evening. Those high clouds that are not rain producers will stick around tonight and into our Friday. The low pressure wave axis will pass, and the deeper moisture on the eastern side of the axis will slide east of us Friday afternoon. That means the clouds will thin out and move away from our area, though they may linger in West Alabama a little longer. Mid-level ridging will building into our area from the west on Saturday, and the sun will be the dominant feature in our forecast this weekend. Another low pressure wave will approach late Monday, and the warmth and humidity boost east of the wave will bring about another surge of clouds. Those clouds could thicken and bring some rain with them on Tuesday as that low pressure wave sends a surface-based cold front our way. Behind that cold front, high pressure at the ground will send some cold air reinforcement southward from the Northern Plains beginning Tuesday night. While some slight warming is forecast, the wind is a cool one that will keep the humidity low. Temperatures will be primarily cold in the nights and early mornings and comfortably cool in the afternoons until Monday when temperatures get a boost ahead of that low pressure wave previously mentioned.
