Tuesday, April 2 Forecast Discussion

A beautiful afternoon and evening is shaping up with clouds rolling in, but we will stay dry for the Kids Art Crawl in Dumont Plaza this evening. Clouds will thicken up overnight but rain should stay away until the mid-morning hours tomorrow.

Wednesday and Thursday will be rainy as an area of low pressure develops along the coast, sending showers our direction, and an upper level low moves directly overhead, providing enough lift for showers and an embedded thunderstorm or two. No storms at this point look to become severe, but they could be strong with some gusty winds and small hail.

Because the surface low will be along the coast, the potential for storms and even heavy rainfall will be greatly diminished. It looks like rain showers will be the mode for us Wednesday and Thursday, with the heaviest rain south of I-20 on Wednesday and all of us seeing a good chance at rain on Thursday.

Rain will taper off early Friday as the upper level low moves away from us, and skies will clear through the day. Temperatures will quickly rebound thanks to warm air back in Texas, with highs in the mid to upper 70s through the weekend and low 80s to start next week.
