Wednesday, January 9th Forecast Discussion

The rain came to an end earlier this afternoon for all of us in East Mississippi and West Alabama. The bulk of the rain this afternoon has been confined to Louisiana and east of I-55, and will stay that way through the overnight. Temperatures will actually increase overnight as the warm front lifts northward. As the front passes, a shower or two is possible, but most of the rain is being held closer to the area of low pressure and cold front, which means we have bought ourselves a dry few hours.

Rain looks to return tomorrow afternoon as the cold front actually approaches. Right now, the threat for severe weather looks very minimal. We should see showers work through and maybe a rumble of thunder embedded as most of the energy will either be north of us or along the Gulf Coast. The front though will take its time in clearing, so we may actually see rain showers linger through most of Friday and into Saturday morning.

Our next front looks to arrive late Sunday into Monday, and this one will just sit on top of us for a couple of days and produce rain showers into Wednesday.

Temperatures will reach 70 tomorrow and stay there until Monday, when our next front ushers in some cooler air.
