The transition period we experienced yesterday will continue as we head throughout the day. Clouds will continue to quickly decrease ahead of a ridge that will continue to build in from the west. Currently the ridge is located in eastern portions of the plains, centralized over Eastern Oklahoma and Western Missouri. The ridge will continue to build in and with it we will continue to see dry conditions and warming temperatures.

Today we'll make a run back towards 90, with the strength of the ridge as it continues to focus on strengthening over us, several locations could make it into the lower 90s. With ample amounts of sunshine we'll begin to dry out, so humid conditions will still be there, but not as prevalent as we've seen the past couple of days. With low level winds still pumping in moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, patchy fog will be possible through the overnight hours in low lying areas. The good news is, with the quick warm up expected as the sun rises Thursday, the fog will quickly lift.

Heat indices through the rest of the week will be flirting with the mid 90s, locations in the northwestern portion of the viewing area could see heat indices in the upper 90s. With the summer-like pattern beginning to develop over us, we'll stay dry for the most part. However, the slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing is still there.

Through the weekend into the start of next week, models are showing consistency of an upper level trough weakening the ridge. This will aide in helping to push a cold front through the area and increase rain chances into the weekend and start of next week. Behind the cold front we will cool down back into the upper 80s for the first part of next week.

With this summer-like pattern settling in over us, it's always important to make sure you stay hydrated and not get too hot.
