...MAJOR HEAVY RAIN EVENT DEVELOPING WITH THE APPROACH OF THE
REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM FAY FOR SATURDAY NIGHT INTO POSSIBLY
THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK...

THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM FAY WILL BE PUSHING INTO THE REGION
BEGINNING SATURDAY NIGHT. THE SYSTEM WILL BE SLOW TO MOVE OVER THE
REGION WITH THE GREATEST IMPACT OVER THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN
PORTIONS OF THE ARKLAMISS. THE SYSTEM WILL EXIT THE REGION POSSIBLY
AS LATE AS THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. THIS WILL RESULT ON SOME HEAVY
RAINS OF 4 TO 6 INCHES ACROSS THE REGION WITH LOCALLY 6 TO 10 INCHES
OR HIGHER POSSIBLE ACROSS MAINLY EAST AND SOUTH MISSISSIPPI.

IN ADDITION...AS FAR AS RECENT RAINS ARE CONCERN... DURING THE LAST
SEVERAL WEEKS AREAS NORTH OF A NATCHEZ TO SHUBUTA LINE HAVE HAD ABOVE
NORMAL RAINFALL...WHICH HAS RESULTED IN SATURATED SOIL
CONDITIONS...THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS OVER NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI.

LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE THROUGHOUT SOUTH AND EAST
MISSISSIPPI AS THE SYSTEMS MOVES SLOWLY ACROSS THE REGION. EVEN THOUGH
THE RIVERS IN THIS AREA ARE WELL BELOW FLOOD STAGE...SIGNIFICANT
RIVER FLOODING IS POSSIBLE.
