NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The backers of a proposed $100 million hurricane museum in Louisiana have settled a lawsuit that accused a rival project of trademark infringement.

The National Hurricane Museum and Science Center filed a federal lawsuit over its name dispute with developer Stephen Schulkens, who registered "The National Hurricane Museum" as a trade name in 2006.

Terms of Monday's settlement weren't disclosed, but a lawyer for the Lake Charles-based museum and science center says the project can keep its name.

The Federal Highway Administration awarded a $1.3 million grant for the museum and science center, but project coordinator Jill Kidder says it's not clear yet when construction will begin.
