PICAYUNE, Miss. (AP) -- Officials from Mississippi and Louisiana are to meet Tuesday in Picayune to discuss hurricane preparedness.
The 2009 hurricane season begins June 1 and runs through Nov. 30.
Transportation, public safety, emergency management and law enforcement officials will participate in the meeting which include at 3 p.m. news conference at the welcome center on Interstate 59 in Picayune.
Officials are expected to discuss continued cooperation between Mississippi and Louisiana for orderly evacuations, how residents should prepare for hurricanes and various transportation issues.
