Hurricane Ida has intensified to a category 2 hurricane with winds of 100 mph.

Radar from Cozumel, Mexico indicates a very well organized and compact hurricane in the Yucatan Channel moving toward the northwest.

Latest forecasts indiciate that Hurricane Ida will approach the coast of Alabama or Northwest Florida, but any slight deviation to the west from that track could bring Ida inland along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect from Grand Isle, Louisiana to Mexico Beach, Florida. This includes the entire Mississippi Coast as well as the Alabama Coast.

On its current forecast track, a heavy rain and possibly winds near tropical storm force are possible in East Mississippi and West Alabama during the late morning and afternoon on Tuesday.

Grounds are saturated from recent heavy rainfall over our area. Trees could be blown down with tropical storm force winds in our area.
