Synopsis
Isaac has made two landfalls in southeastern Louisiana. One was last night around 7pm near the mouth of the Mississippi River. The other one was this morning about 40 miles east of Houma, Louisiana. Isaac, since making landfall, has moved virtually due west as the eye has not fully come onshore yet. Copious amounts of rain have fallen around the New Orleans metro and southeastern Louisiana. Isaac is forecast to continue off to the northwest, but is doing so very slowly.
Local Impacts
Since Isaac is moving farther west than forecast, which Isaac has not exactly done as forecast anyway, our impacts will be very minimal. The greatest impacts locally will be along and south of Highway 84 where rainbands could still drop a couple inches of rain and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out in a stronger thunderstorm.
North of I-20, if we can get a rainband this far north, only light to moderate rain is expected. We all will keep the clouds, but some of us will be lucky to see an inch from Isaac.
Overall, Isaac has bypassed us in East Mississippi and West Alabama. We may see some rain, but otherwise, most of the significant weather will remain to our south.
