Flood Watch and Tropical Storm Warning

The National Weather Service Offices in Jackson and Mobile have issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the following counties:

Jones
Wayne

A warning means tropical storm force winds (winds in excess of 40 mph) are expected to begin occurring within 24 hours. Winds are forecast to be sustained at 40 to 50 mph with gusts to hurricane force (greater than 74 mph) later today and tonight.

The National Weather Service Offices in Jackson and Mobile have issued a Flash Flood Watch for the following counties:

Choctaw
Clarke(AL)
Clarke (MS)
Jasper
Jones
Kemper
Lauderdale
Leake
Neshoba
Newton
Scott
Smith
Wayne

The flash flood watch is in effect from this evening through Wednesday evening. A watch means rapid flooding in streams, creeks, and other vulnerable areas is possible within the next 48 hours. Rain amounts are expected to be between 5-15 inches across the watch area.
